1 Cup Plain Rice Flour

1.5 Cups Water

1 Teaspoon Ghee or Oil

½ Teaspoon Salt


How to Prepare Idiyappam

Take a pan and Heat it., Add a cup of Plain Rice flour to the pan and Roast it on medium flame until the flour become hot and keep it a side.

Take a pressure cooker and add water,oil or ghee and salt. Cover and cook for one whistle. Remove the pressure manually. Immediately add  roasted rice flour and mix well to combine. Switch off the stove and Cover the cooker with whistle and let it rest for 15 minutes.  We are just resting the dough cover for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, open the cooker and mix the dough. Spoon some dough into the idiyappam press , close with lid and squeeze the dough onto the idiyappam plates ( if you don’t have idiyappam plate, you can also use idly plate ) in a  circular motion. Arrange the Idiayappam plates in a stand.

Once the dough is pressed, transfer the plates to a steamer and steam the idiyappam for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes of steaming, rest the idli plates for 5 minutes before removing the idiyappam.

Allow it to cool and remove the idiyappams gently from the plate to a serving bowl.

It is Good to serve with Veg Kurma, Coconut Milk with Sugar.
