Story : Satakarni (Balakrishna) is a son who is well pampered by his mother and is well known for his love towards his mother and everyone underestimates him quoting him as mother’s son who is not meant to battlefield. As a child he misses his father who goes on wars and asks his mother about that. She says that he father went to bring the victory to his country by defeating other emperors. Satakarni tells to her mother that he will make a big empire by conquering all the nearby regions and spread the peace. This has become the lifetime ambition for him. How he achieved success form rest of the story.
Performances : Nandamuri Balakrishna is intense and ferocious as Satakarni. He is at his best carrying the movie on his shoulders. His performance is praiseworthy and his dialogues are ear feast for audience. Performance-wise, Balakrishna is exceptional as a Warrior or Emperor. Be it Dialogue Delivery or Expressions, He excelled in every aspect. He roared like a lion in the war-field sequences. Balayya could always be proud of his career-best performance in his landmark film. You can’t even imagine anyone else doing the same role once after watching the movie. Nandamuri Balakrishna steals the show imperially. Shriya Saran is apt as Vasisti Devi and has given nice performance. Shriya surprises audience with her extra-ordinary acting prowess. She appears in very glamourous avatars as well. Hema Manilin as Gauthami Balasri is fantastic and suitable for this role. She brings a dignity to the movie. Kabir Bedi as Nahapana justifies with his role. The rest of the cast performed accordingly.
Analysis : ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ is a magnum opus which will make the Telugus proud. It’s not an exaggeration to say ‘Satakarni’ is far superior to ‘Baahubali’ in terms of content although the Rajamouli directorial is way better when it comes to Visual Grandeur, Graphics & Production Values. Such is the range of Balakrishna’s 100th Movie! Krish gives us a terrific interval point. The brilliant choreography of war and action scenes, background score, spectacular visuals, amazing special effects and punch dialogues are the attractions on the technical front. Considering its production cost and time, its VFX works are superb. No other director used Sai Madhav Burra’s talent like him and coming days are going to be very busy for Sai Madhav. Gauthamiputra Satakarni is an epic and glorifying tale of a less celebrated king which has many moments to give goosebumps to audience.
